The Best Day of the Week to Travel – Thursday

كَعْبَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ ‏ ‏رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ‏ ‏كَانَ يَقُولُ ‏
‏لَقَلَّمَا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ ‏صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ‏ ‏يَخْرُجُ إِذَا خَرَجَ فِي سَفَرٍ إِلَّا يَوْمَ الْخَمِيسِ

K’ab ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “It was rare that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would set out to travel on any other day than Thursday.”

  1. Shaykh Khalil As-Saharnafuri (may Allah have mercy on him) said,” This hadeeth shows that the majority of the time the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) set out to travel on Thursday. However for Hajj he left on Saturday. Ibn Hazm held that he (peace and blessings be upon him) set of for Hajj on Thursday, but Ibn Al-Qayyim refuted that claim in Zad Al-Ma’aad.[ Bathul Majhud fee hale Sunnan Abee Dawud ]
