When Allah becomes angry with you

Abu Hurayrah (Radi Allahu anhu) narrated the Prophet (sallAllahu Alayhi wa salam) said: “Allah becomes angry at the person who doesn’t ask Him.”

Collected:At-Tirmithi (3373) and Bukhari in Adab (658) graded as being Hasan by Shaykh Al-Albani.

Scholarly notes for this subject:

  • Allah becomes angry at the person who doesn’t ask Him.” Allah gets angry, because not asking Him is a form of arrogance and represents self- sufficiency. This kind of act isn’t permissible for a servant of Allah. [1]
  •  Shaykh Zayd Al-Madkhali (may Allah preserve him) said: “This hadeeth shows it’s obligatory to ask Allah for the good of this life and the next life. The slave can’t reach any well-being for his affairs in this world or the next, except with Allah’s assistance, His will and then He makes it easy for the servant . It’s mentioned , “ Allah becomes angry at the person who doesn’t ask him“, this specifically imposes  an obligation on the person to ask for his needs in this world and the next from their owner.
  • It is Sunnah for the servant to maintain supplicating and asking Allah. Furthermore, he must believe that Allah loves when a person constantly asks and urgently requests Him for his needs. Allah doesn’t hate this.  When the slave constantly asks Allah it brings him closer to his Lord. This becomes a means for him to have his needs covered. Allah is the One  Who organizes and manages the affairs in this world and the next. Therefore, it is a must to flee to Allah in any case. In the times of difficulty and in ease, in private and in public, no matter when or what the case is, even if you are  laying down on your bed or walking in the street, you should always turn to Allah to get your needs provided for. “.[2]

  • Asking a person for your needs isn’t like asking Allah.

الله يَغضَبُ إن تَرَكتَ سؤالَهُ

Allah becomes angry when you stop asking Him

و تَرَى ابنَ آدَمَ حِينَ يُسأَلُ يَغضَبُ

And you can see the son of Adam gets angry when he’s asked
