Seeking Atonement for Errors Made in Gatherings

Some of the benefits that can be found in some books of Hadeeth are extra or rare narrations which aren’t mentioned in other books. e.g Sunnah Al-Kubara by Al-Imam An-Nisa’(May Allah have mercy on him).
It’s known that Sunnah As-Sughara or Al-Mujtaba is famous among the common folk. This book was published many years ago and is circulated around the globe in numerous libraries.
Now on the other hand As-Sunnan Al-Kubara wasn’t printed until later. Only ‘Aml Yowm wal Lail (Deeds Performed Day and Night) was printed. Dr. Farouq Haamadah checked and verified it.
Recently, I cam across an additional benefit of the hadeeth about atonement for social intercourse and gatherings. Hence I felt the desire to present it to noble readers, and perhaps Allah might reward me for what I’ve learned.
عَنْ عَائشَة قَالَتْ مَا جَلِسَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّىَ اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَجْلِسًا قَطْ وَلاَ تَلاَ قُرْآناً وَلاَ صَلَى صَلاَةً إِلاَ خَتَمَ ذَلِكَ بِكَلِمَاتِ قَاِلتْ فَقَلَتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَرَاكَ مَا تَجْلِسُ مَجْلَسًا وَلاَ تَتْلَو قُرْآنا وَلاَ تُصَلَي صَلاَةًَإِلاَ خَتَمْتَ بِهَؤُلاَءِ الكَلِمَاتِ قَالَ نَعْم مَنْ قَالَ خَيْراً خَتَمَ لَهُ طَابِعٌ عَلَى ذَلِكَ الخَيْرَ وَمَنْ قَالَ شَرّاً كُنْ لَهُ كَفَّارَة سُبْحَانَكَ وَبِحَمْدِكَ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَ أَنْتَ أَسْتَغْفِرُكَ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْكَ
‘Aisha(May Allah be pleased with her)said ,” Whenever Allah’s messenger gathered with people, read the Quran or prayed he always closed out by saying a few words. I asked him” Oh messenger of Allah I see that you never intercourse with people, read Quran and pray except after finishing you say something? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Yes (You’re right). Whoever says something good then closes with good speech, good will be imprinted in his disposition. And whoever says something bad must say “Subhanka wa bi Hamdeeka Laa ilah illah Anta Astagfiruka wa Atubu ilayk.”[ Glory to You and all praise belongs to You. There is absolutely no deity worthy of worship, but You. I seek your Forgiveness and to You I repent.]
Collected by An-Nisa’i in ‘Aml (page 273-274)and In Sunnan Al-Kubara(9/84) in the chapter( what’s said after reading the Quran)and Ahmed in( 2/77)in Musnad. And it’s collected by Abu Dawud(4859)in his Sunnan and Ahmed(3/450)without this extra wording. This hadeeth is authentic with and without the extra wording. For further detail about it’s chain of transmission refer back to Al-Albani’s Silsilahtus Saheeh (80)May Allah Have mercy upon him)
Shaykh Ali Reda said,” this is what I wanted to present. May Allah’s peace and blessings be upon His servant , Messenger and Khalil Muhammad, his family and on everyone of his companions.
