Those who don’t Show Mercy won’t be shown Mercy
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
Muhammad ibn Abdil Malik Az-Ziyat was among the group of people who had a hand in having many great scholars, like Imam Ahmed ibn Hanbal, imprisoned and even tortured Malik ordered that baking oven made of wood with iron nails be constructed for torturing a tribe from Egypt.[1]
Muhammad ibn Abdil Malik used to say during the trial and dispute of the Quran being created, “ I have never shown mercy to anyone. Being merciful is a sign of weakness. Later on in his life he was imprisoned in a cage that on its inside every bar was like barbed wire. He used to scream: Have mercy on me! Have mercy on me! [2]
Reflections:
- The way to treat others is the way you’ll be treated one day
- What goes around comes around
- A serious warning to those who have a hand in dishonoring, punishing and sullying scholars of Islam without mercy.
