Benefits for this topic:
Muhammad Al-Ameen Al-Ethiopi (may Allah preserve him) commented on this hadeeth. He wrote, “Whoever prays Isha in congregation is similar to the person who stood up half the night…” This means the reward is equal to the person who prayed the night prayer. The reward here is for standing half the night in prayer, if he didn’t pray Isha and Fajr both in congregation. Now, if he prays both these prayers in congregation he earns the reward for these two prayers as being a person who stood up the whole night praying.
“The person who prays Fajr in congregation…” with Isha, “is like the one who stood up the entire night.” This means that each one of these prayers in congregation reward is the same as standing half the night. And praying Isha and Fajr in congregation is like standing the entire night in worship. This meaning is understood from the hadeeth in collected in Abu Dawud’s Sunnan hadeeth number 555.”[ Sharh Saheeh Muslim]
Anwar Kashmiri (may Allah have mercy on him) wrote about this hadeeth, “The more difficult the act of worship is to practice the greater the reward.[ Al-‘Urful Shathi Sharh Sunnan At-Tirmithi ]
